Hello, new friends and fun travelers!
I’m Kate Bryan, a business person, (see “About”), a proud, loving mom, an information junkie and a middle-ager who’s done almost everything I could do, traveled a lot on business (almost none for pleasure), and I’ve about decided I’m done working full-time…
Now I’m ready to try traveling for fun, but like so many people I’ve met, I have no idea where I want to start! I’m a travel site junkie, but I get overwhelmed with the possiblities and the gazillion questions that pop up. I’m not wealthy so I want to really make the best decisions about my travel goals and plans – and I turned to the big info highway to gather ideas and facts…
I got excited after reading a lot of forums, travel, vacation and cruise review sites – there is always a lot of information, but it never seems like any of the writers/contributors really get personal and interactive. They seldom tell us WHY they chose the destination, who they met, what the local people, shops, restaurants, special hideways or activities were like…nAnd how about their budget – how did they find the best deals, what worked and what didn’t, which places were worth it or why did they waste their time and money?
It seems like the writers aren’t talking like they would to their friends or family. Most of their words seem carefully crafted for a writing critic, intead of excited and involved… Finally I decided to create this blog, where we can all connect and listen, talk and learn, find out where to go to have fun – whether it’s across the world or a few miles from home.
I’ve lived and worked in London, Munich, Rome, Scotland, Ireland. Sardinia, Spain and many other places. I could talk and write for hours or days about it all (and I probably will
) – but some of my family’s favorite memories are of local weekend drives, like when we would take off from Colorado Springs in nice weather, stop at Green Mountain Falls for the best sandwiches ever, then head up through Woodland Park, on through Leadville, take the back roads past Gilmore, stop for a bit in Breckenridge – with the weather changing from almost summer to deep winter in the space of a few hours…
Next, we would head down I-70 though the Eisenhower Tunnel and on into Denver… The culmination of the day was a very long dinner and lots of fun at Casa Bonita. We would sit and watch all the sights and people and our two girls would have a blast eating all the sopapillas they could handle, playing all the great games, watching all the shows and just having fun! The whole day cost less than a hundred dollars and left memories that still bring happy smiles to all of us and anyone we tell about it…
I won’t get real detailed in this post, but you get the idea… Come be with friends – share YOUR special trips, vacations, cruises, honeymoons, local fun things and give us all some details – try to include the costs, why you went there, what you and others can experience. Eventually, we’ll all be able to learn about great adventures, ones that will fit into any budget or lifestyle.
And for Heaven’s sake, share some ideas about how you think we can all make this the warmest, friendliest, most informative and fun travel review site on the Web!
I really look forward to hearing from you and sharing with everyone!
Kate
